The Boston College Women’s Rugby Team is always looking for new players. We accept players of all skill levels and no experience is necessary. In fact, most of our players had never played rugby before coming to college-we’ll teach you everything you need to know!
Do I need any equipment?
One of the great things about rugby is that you don’t need much gear to play. Just bring cleats (soccer or lacrosse ones are fine), athletic clothing, and a mouth guard to practice. If you don’t already have a mouth guard, we can help you get one.
How do try-outs work?
We actually don’t have try-outs. We take anyone and everyone willing to put in work, learn about the game, and commit to the team.
Don’t you have to be really muscular and/or big to do rugby?
Nope! With 15 positions on the field, there are opportunities for players of all shapes and sizes. Gain 20 pounds? We have a spot for you. Lose 20 pounds? We have a spot for you. Short? We have a spot for you. Tall? We have a spot for you.
When is “rugby season”?
We are actually active during both the fall and the spring. During the fall, we generally do league play, and hold matches against other schools in our division or the Boston area. During the spring, we generally play in tournaments, with a few independent games.
When are games?
Games are usually on Saturdays, with the occasional Sunday game.
What time are practices?
Practices are Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 4:30-6:30pm on the Brighton Campus field (near St. John’s Seminary. 129 Lake St, Boston, Ma 02135)
For spring practice times and dates please contact our Recruitment Secretary for more information.
Ready to join?
Prospective players should email our Recruitment Secretary, Joi Dallas, at email@example.com for more information.
Hope to see you on the pitch!
